This is hella late
I’d apologize but I got caught up playing Buzz Quiz Tv. Check that out man.
I have something to write about but I’m debating how I want to present it. Eh, I’ll skip to something else.
This year a new student publication came out at my campus. It’s called the Weekly Enema and it’s supposed to be a comedy newspaper, ala the Onion.
Let’s just say that it’s not funny. It seems to think it’s funny but the stale jokes and unoriginal content is just atrocious and for whatever reason they think saying that the Oregon Commentator and Oregon State University sucks will automatically bring in numerous readers. 1. OSU does suck, we all know it, move on. 2. The OC is actually funnier than the Enema. Amazing how that works out.
What kills me about this paper though is the funnies section featuring such unfunny comics as:
Dino Comics
XKCD
Nonsense Comics
Would someone please tell me why these are funny comics? Please? Because between the lack of decent art and the terrible writing I feel like I’ve lost all of my IQ points, I don’t even know how I’m writing this sentence due to the lack of intelligence above.
I’d rant about this more but I’ll just refer you to my previous anger over untalented hacks and lack of effort.
If you want to see a difference in funny check out the OC and the Enema. While, the Oregon Commentator is juvenile and mostly satirical it comes across as more genuine and less shitty unlike the Enema which appropriate to its name is a release of crap on paper. Although, the OC blog is a little more newsish. Of course, if you’re not related to the UO campus some things will go by you.

Thanks for the link and your comments! I just wanted to respond to a few points.
First off, I have a ton of respect for the people at the Oregon Commentator. They are all solid writers and do a great job producing a solid newspaper on a close to biweekly basis. While we do rag on each other, I really have nothing but respect for them.
Why do we produce this paper? Because like you we’re interested in creating something new. You have a blog, you post on it pretty frequently, you seem interested in starting communication and experimenting with the written word. That’s awesome.
My friend and I were interested in publishing a newspaper and, after looking around the campus publications, we decided to publish a humor paper. Is it funny? That’s subjective. I have an email box full of people telling me it sucks and I should die and people telling me they love reading it. Funny or not, like you and your blog, I was interested in trying something new and seeing where it lead me.
I’m happy you read it. Hell, I’m happy you hated it because we are having a dialog now that we otherwise would not be having. That excites me.
